There are different types of products available in the market catering to the construction and interior needs. These products are widely used for both residential & commercial purposes. Different manufacturers have been trying various methods of building durable & long-lasting tiled floors. However these methods have been exhaustively tested. Manufacturers are now trying to come up with viable and long-lasting solutions for tiling over inferior products like particle boards. Particle board is a contrived wood product used to some degree in most modern-day construction projects. Though care must be taken to ensure moisture cannot access it, particle board has proved to be a good building material. Proper storage is just as critical as the ways to waterproof particle boards. One must keep in mind to avoid moisture from rain and condensation to keep particle board strong and intact. Using a waterproof sealant before installation can take some time but it enhances the durability of the product and it can result in long-lasting results.
One of the best ways to waterproof particle boards is to paint it. Painting the surface of the product will make it resistant to moisture only if you use moisture-resistant paint, as this type of paint creates a more permanent waterproof layer on the product. Using a moisture resistant paint can work wonders for the products in terms of product durability.
One must use a 3/8-inch roller as it will result in much better coverage of the paint on the particle board. In order to waterproof particle boards, use a roller tray. One must then pour latex primer into the tray and apply the primer to the particle board. You can also use a paintbrush to reach deep spots where paint roller can't reach and let the primer dry for 4-5 hours. Let the final layer of paint dry for at least three days. Your MDF is now moisture-resistant and can be used near areas with high moisture.
You can also apply a layer of transparent acrylic sealant to all edges of the boards. Add an extra cover to the areas that are more prone to be exposed to moisture. You can do it by properly mixing the can of sealant, opening the lid with a screwdriver and painting the product onto the wood using a paintbrush. This method to waterproof particle boards can be much more effective as paint rollers do not penetrate the wood very well.
